Whaddup sports fans!
We’ve been kicking back and enjoying way too many sunny mojitos to do any kind of work the past few weeks, so apologies if you’ve found our output lacking over the summer… But we’ve had fun so if u don’t like it, go and complain on the internet, cos we couldn’t give a monkeys!
The good news is that we’ve got a veritable plethora of radtastic things coming up to whet your whistles for the coming winter season.
First up, we’re orbiting high above planet STOKE-A-TRON at the moment as we’ve won a competition on Citizen TV – a video community website for film makers! Our film “Aimee Fuller – A Day in the Life” won Best in Category for sports videos in the August round, with a shot at Best Annual Award at the end of the year. We’d like to say a massive thank you to Citizen TV and everyone who voted for our film.
In other news, looming way too fast is the second ever Gonzilla Invitational on 28th September at Tamworth Snowdome. It’s on the evening of the first TSA Big Bang Show of the season, so come on down for a day of new kit testing, pro coaching, film watching and of course pro shredding that will blow your effing minds! It’s gonna be a who’s that of uk talent, that’s for sure!
We’ve also commissioned a special new rail feature for Tamworth which will be debuted at the Invitational, and afterwards reside permanently there to get your party slides on over the long cold winter.
On a more sombre note, September sees the first ever Nelson’s Tour de Test Valley – a charity bike ride in memory of the legendary rider Nelson Pratt, who sadly took his own life last year. Many friends and industry colleagues will be riding for Nelly on 7th September in aid of the mental health charity CALM, so dig deep & support the tour in any way you can.
Video wise, we have some awesome treats coming up. We have an after dark filming session, a weekly series of Fivers for Trannies edits and more Sophie Nicholls mayhem which is certainly not in any way, shape or form to be sniffed at.
And finally some sad news from behind the scenes this week as Westbeach say goodbye to the absolute legend that is Sue Garlick – long time team manager, marketing & PR guru and one woman grass roots-nurturing heroine. Sue has done more for UK riders than anyone else bar none over the past 8 years that she’s been with Westbeach, and kept the UK dryslope scene going long after it had seen better days with the Westbeach Snowflex Series and In & Out tour.
Nuddsy, Macwhirter, Billy Morgan and Will Smith to name but a few all owe their success in some way to this visionary lady, and we really hope that she will get the opportunity to continue her amazing work in the UK snow scene for years to come.
Well that’s about enough of our waffle so until next time shred heads – step away from the flip flops, get out there and shake off those dreadful summer vibes – winter is coming, and there’s nowt you can do about it!
