The Whole ‘Lympic Shabang
Between the live stream breaking and there being 1000000 riders qualifying we think we’ve worked out what the fuck happened at Copper Mountain this week.
MEN’S SLOPESTYLE
So it all started with Men’s slopestyle. There were 4 groups/heats of riders with the top 4 riders qualifying into finals. Here’s how it went.
Nate Kern finished 29th in his group (114th overall)
Sam Turnbull finished 23rd in his group (90th overall)
Jamie Nicholls 11th in his group (33rd overall)
Billy Morgan finished 2nd in his group and made it to finals (4th overall).
Here’s a bit of Billy in qualies…
LADIES SLOPESTYLE
In the ladies slopestyle qualification there were only 2 groups/heats and again only the top 4 riders made it through to finals.
Jenny Jones and Aimee Fuller were both in the same group (Heat 1), but neither of them made it out, Jenny Jones came16th (28th overall) and finished Aimee Fuller 24th (49th overall). In group/Heat 2 Katie Omerod stepped up and finished 21st (43rd overall), unbelievable!!!

MEN’S PIPE
Again there were 4 groups/heats and only four riders could make it out into final.
Ben Kilner and Dom Harrington got drawn together in Heat 2, both hoping for it all to come together for them.
Ben Kilner finishsed 15th (61st overall), while Dom Harrington finished up 9th (30th overall) with a score of 70.6 (which was basically 6ish points away from qualifying for finals), so close but no cigar.
SO BACK TO BILLY MORGAN IN THE FINAL!
Billy found himself next to the best slopestyle riders in the galaxy, there was him, Torstein, McMorris, Eric Willet, Chas Guldemond (not to be confused with Tom Guilmard), Peetu and a bunch of other slayers.
Anyway to cut to the chase after his first run Billy was 8th with 36.0 point score. That doesn’t sound amazing I know, but he was still ahead of Staale Sandbach, Eric Willet, Torstein Horgmo and Mark McMorris.
Billy dropped in on his second run with it all to do and obviously did something right (the live stream wasn’t working) as he scored 72.7 which briefly saw him in 4th but after Staale, Torstein, Seppe Smiths, and Mark McMorris dropped in he finished in 5th place! AMAZING!!!

So in conclusion, that was a pretty good first qualifying campaign. We have no idea where the next one is, so yeah… stay tuned (or don’t, it’s your life).
